How to check for SSD failure

How to check for SSD failure

All the information we need can be found in Universe's 'Health' tab.

Confirm Firmware Version

We recommend that the system is updated to the most recent available firmware.
If the firmware version shown in 'Health' is not the most recent stable firmware (1.2.3-4 as of 24/12/2019) please update as soon as possible as this may fix the issue.

Universe Health Check

Under the 'Storage' group are a list of individual checks.
Please review all 'SSD_ATLAS_____' checks, this check if green tells us that the SSD is operational.
A healthy SSD will show a green tick next to the name, and Availability will show 100%.
Healthy SSD:

An Unhealthy SSD will show 'State' with a red icon, 'Availability' will depend on how long it was active before failing.
It is recommended to Reboot the TigerMX-5 as per below instruction.

A Recovered SSD will show 'State' with a green tick, 'Availability' may still show as red depending of the % of the day it was unhealthy.

The SSD can be in a failed state due to 2 reasons, either hardware or software - a reboot will determine which it is.

Reboot the TigerMX-5

TigerMX-5 - How to Reboot / Shutdown
After the reboot check the state of the SSD as above.
If the SSD is now operational than it was a software issue (Filesystem corruption) with no further required action.
If the SSD is still in a failed state please contact support@blackmoth.com to investigate a hardware fault.
