SmartMX Camera Troubleshooting
Software Check
Before continuing with this guide first confirm the following:
- The camera view is not loading on the display (see below)
- The other camera views are working (use the on-screen buttons to check)
- Support has confirmed there's no software or configuration errors.
Example of camera not loading:
1. Camera View not loading.
Clean the Connectors
- Use contact cleaner (read the product instructions first) to spray the inside of both the camera connector and the cable connector.
- Reconnect and wait for the video stream to appear.
- If there's no video stream after 1 minute continue onto the Camera Port Test.
Camera Port Test
- Determine which CAM port on the Tiger is the camera at fault. (See FAQ below)
- Swap the suspect connector from CAM Port (A) with a known to be operational CAM Port (B).
- If the camera is now working while plugged into CAM Port (B), then CAM Port (A) could be faulty
- If the camera is still not working in CAM Port (B) it's either a cable or camera fault. Proceed.
- Swap the connectors back to the original positions.
Example:
Moving the camera cable from CAM Port 1 to CAM port 3.
Cable Test
- Ensure the cable is back into the original CAM Port.
- Disconnect the camera (A) from the cable and then connect a known working camera or a new camera (B).
- If camera (B) is now working then it's confirmed the cable is working but camera (A) is faulty.
- If camera (B) is still not working then the cable could be at fault.
- To confirm if the cable is faulty, connect camera (A) to a known working cable.
- If camera (A) is now working the cable is deemed to be faulty.
Example
CAM Port 1 is connected to camera A, then disconnected and connected to camera B.
F.A.Q.
We recommend:
Which is the faulty CAM Port?
This can be found by cycling through the camera views as you disconnect each CAM Port one at a time.
Alternatively you can ask support to provide you this information.
